In 1988, brothers Derek and David Hatchell had a couple of shovels, a dream and not much else. Along with a work truck, a trailer and a small handful of guys, Hatchell Concrete was born. Since then, we’ve grown into a concrete and NC general contracting business with a full-service fleet of work vehicles, machinery and a sizeable crew to match. However, little has changed at our core. Hatchell Concrete is still a family-based company where you’ll find plenty of Hatchell guys behind the scenes and on the worksite as we see projects through and continue to develop and expand our services as NC general contractors.
From the early days of Hatchell Concrete, we’ve loved sharing our projects with our family. Within our Outer Banks home, we can drive around with our children and show them parts of the island that we’ve touched – from the multiuse paths that stretch along scenic N.C. Highway 12 to the engineering feat of the Marc Basnight Bridge that soars over the Oregon Inlet and connects South Nags Head with Rodanthe. Our projects’ relevance gives them an undeniable staying power that our children point back to, once they’re grown, as inspiration for wanting to play a part within the company.
Why Choose Us for Your NC General Contractor
We started as just a concrete company, but our skillset and expertise has expanded into additional services over the years. Now, concrete is just a part of the name. Yes, Hatchell Concrete creates sidewalks and parks, lays large-scale site foundations and builds walls and concrete pumping systems. But, in addition to that, we hold a general contracting license (#34205) with unlimited limitation and unclassified classification. As NC general contractors and subcontractors, Hatchell Concrete can meet a project’s ever-changing needs, from laying foundation to site utility, such as installing pump houses and booster stations, and all-around site work. Our adaptable abilities as NC general contractors allow us to oversee all areas of a single project – no subcontracting required.
